I Bought My Dream Viky’s Kitchen Overalls… Then Lost My Keys and Ended Up on a Mountain with Cows

Last Saturday felt like one of those days that could only be described as a full-on adventure—equal parts chaotic, beautiful, and completely unforgettable.

My husband planned a surprise date day for us (which, let’s be honest, already made it special), and we spent the morning exploring Hendersonville, North Carolina before heading out for a hike he had found.

If you know me, you know this is basically my dream day: exploring new towns, being outside, and soaking in every little moment.

While walking through Hendersonville, I stumbled across a shop that instantly caught my eye. And then I saw them.

The most beautiful overalls I have ever seen.

White denim, covered in delicate berries and herbs—literally Viky’s Kitchen in clothing form. I didn’t even hesitate. I went in, tried them on, and immediately knew they were coming home with me.

Actually… scratch that.

I walked out of the store wearing them 😂

I loved them that much.

But little did I know… that decision was about to turn our peaceful date day into a full-on side quest.

When the Adventure Took a Turn 🚗

After leaving Hendersonville, we drove to Fletcher, NC to grab some fresh, healthy lunch because we were starving.

But when we parked and I turned off the car…

We couldn’t start it again.

We couldn’t lock it.

And within seconds, my heart dropped.

I had left my keys… and my wallet… at the store.

The store that had closed 10 minutes earlier.

Cue immediate panic.

But instead of spiraling, we did the only thing we could think to do—we prayed. We asked God for help and even called our parents to pray too. It sounds simple, but in that moment, it grounded us.

Then we got to work.

We called the store (even though it was closed), called another location owned by the same person, and even reached out to the police to help us find a way to contact the owner.

After seven phone calls to the other store…

The owner finally answered.

Her name was Susan.

And what she did next honestly still amazes me.

A Kindness I’ll Never Forget

After hearing our situation, Susan offered to drive 40 minutes to her closed store, grab my keys and wallet, and then drive them all the way to us in Fletcher.

I was in shock.

In a world where people are often in a rush or focused on their own day, she chose kindness. She chose to help us.

So while we waited, we went ahead and got lunch at Auction House Food Hall—and it ended up being such a good decision.

We had the most amazing burrito bowls—fresh, flavorful, a little spicy, and packed with protein. Exactly what we needed in the middle of all the chaos.

And honestly? Sitting there, waiting, eating good food, and trusting that things would work out… it turned into one of those unexpectedly peaceful moments.

About an hour later, Sarah walked in.

And the funniest part?

She spotted me immediately… because I was still wearing the overalls I had just bought from her store 😂

I thanked her over and over again—I was so genuinely grateful. I offered to pay her for her time and gas, but she wouldn’t accept anything.

All she asked for was a good Google review.

But I knew I wanted to do more than that.

So here it is:

If you’re ever in North Carolina, go visit Razberry Threads. Support Susan. Support kind people like her.

Ending the Day on the Mountain

After all of that…

We still made it to our hike.

Bearwallow Mountain Trail.

And somehow, everything worked out perfectly—we reached the top right at golden hour.

And waiting for us?

Cows.

A whole mountaintop of cows.

No fences. No barriers. Just open land, fresh air, and the sweetest, most peaceful little moo moos roaming freely.

If you know me, you know this was basically my dream moment.

There I was, standing on top of a mountain, in my berry-and-herb overalls, surrounded by cows, watching the sunset with my husband.

It felt surreal.

We took photos, laughed, and just took it all in—reflecting on what had turned into such a wild, beautiful day.

What This Day Meant to Me ✨

On the drive home to South Carolina, we kept talking about everything that had happened.

What started as a simple date turned into a story filled with:

  • Unexpected challenges
  • Kindness from a stranger
  • Faith in uncertain moments
  • And so much joy

It reminded me that adventure isn’t just about where you go—it’s about what happens along the way.

And sometimes… it’s about buying overalls, leaving your keys behind, and ending the day on a mountain with cows.

Honestly?

I wouldn’t change a single thing 🐄🌿
